*REGIONAL MLS HOME SEARCH *NATIONAL LISTINGS *FEATURED LISTINGS OUR HISTORYFamily-owned and family-focused, Mirkes Real Estate was originally operated by current broker/owner, Richard Mirkes, and his father, Karl, as a custom home-building and land development company that was responsible for a major segment of residential subdivision growth in DeSoto, TX, in the 1970s and 1980s. After a severe economic downturn and sky-rocketing interest rates in the late '80s adversely affected the homebuilding industry, Richard opted to join his wife, Nancy, for almost the next 20 years as top-producing sales agents and designated property managers with the local office of the largest residential brokerage firm in the country. In late 2010 due to a corporate decision by that brokerage to "regionalize" some of its functions, Richard determined that he could best maintain local, "hands on" service to his loyal clientele as an independent broker once again, thus he proudly re-established Mirkes Real Estate as a full-service brokerage firm.
